Seamless Gutter FAQs answer the most common questions homeowners ask about gutter installation, drainage, maintenance, and long-term protection for homes in Burleson, Texas and surrounding Johnson, Hood, and Somervell County communities.

These questions come directly from real homeowner conversations during gutter evaluations and installations. The goal is to help you understand how gutter systems work and how proper drainage protects your home.

General Gutter Questions

Do I even need gutters on my house?

In North Texas, gutters help protect your home’s foundation from water damage. Expansive clay soils expand when saturated and contract during dry periods, which can cause foundation movement.

A properly installed gutter system captures roof runoff and directs water several feet away from the home to help maintain stable soil conditions.

Do gutters really protect the foundation?

Yes. Gutters control rainwater coming off the roof and discharge it away from the perimeter of the home. Without gutters, roof runoff can pool near the foundation and increase soil saturation.

Managing roof runoff helps reduce erosion, soil movement, and long-term structural stress.

How long do seamless gutters last?

Most aluminum seamless gutter systems last between 20 and 30 years when properly installed and maintained. Lifespan depends on installation quality, drainage design, and environmental exposure.

Routine inspection and proper water discharge help extend the life of the system.

What warranty comes with seamless gutters?

Lozier Seamless Gutters provides a two-year workmanship warranty covering the installation of the gutter system. This includes proper slope, secure mounting, and sealed connections.

The Senox aluminum gutter material used for the system includes a manufacturer paint warranty that can extend up to 50 years on the factory finish when installed and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines.

Gutter System Design Questions

What is the difference between 5-inch and 6-inch gutters?

Five-inch gutters are standard for most residential homes. However, larger homes, steep rooflines, or heavy roof valleys may require six-inch gutters.

Six-inch systems carry significantly more water during heavy Texas rainfall and are often recommended for larger drainage areas.

How many downspouts will my home need?

Downspout placement depends on roof size, gutter length, valley concentration, and the volume of water produced during storms.

Many homes require a downspout roughly every 30 to 40 feet, but every roofline drains differently.

Why does my neighbor have more downspouts?

Every roof design drains differently. Roof valleys, pitch, surface area, and gutter length all affect how much water must be managed.

Two homes that appear similar from the street can require completely different drainage layouts.

Why would a downspout be installed on the front of the house?

Whenever possible, downspouts are placed on the sides or rear of the home. However, roof valleys, offsets, or architectural features sometimes require a front discharge location.

Proper drainage and foundation protection always take priority.

Where does the water go after it leaves the downspout?

Downspouts direct water away from the foundation using several drainage options depending on the property layout.

Common drainage solutions include splash blocks, downspout extensions, or underground drain lines that move water away from the structure and landscaping.

Leaf Guard and Maintenance Questions

Do I really need leaf guards?

Leaf protection systems can reduce debris buildup and help maintain water flow during storms.

However, no gutter guard system is completely maintenance-free. Periodic inspection is still recommended to ensure the system continues to function properly.

Will leaf guards eliminate gutter cleaning?

Leaf guards significantly reduce maintenance but do not eliminate it completely. Debris can still accumulate in roof valleys or during severe storms.

Routine inspection helps maintain proper drainage.

Installation and Cost Questions

How much do gutters cost?

Gutter systems are not priced by linear footage alone. Roof height, number of corners, downspouts, drainage design, and installation access all affect the final cost.

Each home requires an evaluation to determine the proper drainage solution.

How long does gutter installation take?

Most residential gutter installations can be completed within a few hours once the project is scheduled. Larger homes or complex rooflines may require additional time.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Lozier Seamless Gutters provides free evaluations so homeowners can understand the condition of their gutter system and determine the best solution for their property.

Do I need to be home for the estimate?

No. As long as we have clear access to the exterior of the property, we can evaluate the roofline, measure accurately, and provide a recommendation.

Many homeowners prefer remote evaluations because it saves time while still allowing us to provide an accurate assessment.

Why don’t you provide per-foot pricing?

Not every home requires full gutter replacement. Many systems only require targeted repair or adjustment.

Our evaluations focus on what the home actually needs so we can recommend the most effective and cost-efficient solution.

At Lozier Seamless Gutters, we install it right and stand behind our work.

Workmanship Warranty

We warranty our installation for three (3) years from the date of install.

This covers issues caused by how we installed your system, including:

Leaks at seams or connections
Improper pitch causing water not to drain correctly
Loose gutters or downspouts
Hangers or fasteners failing due to installation

If we caused it, we fix it.

Material Warranty

All materials are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. This can include defects in the aluminum or coating.

Finish warranties are typically long term depending on the supplier.

If there is a material issue, we will help coordinate with the manufacturer when needed.

What’s Not Covered

We want to be clear about what is not related to installation.

Clogged gutters or downspouts
Lack of maintenance
Storm, wind, hail, or falling debris damage
Roof, fascia, or structural issues
Work done or modified by others after install
Normal wear over time

Everyday things happen around a home. Lawn mowers, kids playing, or something hitting a downspout can cause damage. That is not an installation issue.

Maintenance

Gutters need to be kept reasonably clear to work properly.

If they are clogged, water will back up and cause problems. That is not a warranty issue.

Service Calls and Warranty Checks

If you call us out for a warranty issue, we will take a look and determine the cause.

If it is due to our installation, it is covered and we fix it.

If it is not related to our installation, a service call fee may apply. This includes:
